About the tutor - Katharine "Katie" Gleeson, Ceramicist

Having completed her studies at Leek College of Art and Colchester Institute of Art with an ERAC Distinction and a Degree in Studio Ceramics, Katharine taught at Suffolk College and the Training for Life Project in Ipswich before opening her own studio in Suffolk.

Working in high firing white earthenware she creates highly individual pieces celebrating the female form and all things feminine and elegant.

Her vases, wall hangings and millinery embrace styles from the Nineteenth and Twentieth Centuries with soft flowing curves and delicate decoration featuring lace, roses and subtle colour. From her studio in Leiston, Suffolk Katharine teaches traditional techniques in working with clay to all ages and abilities where she is highly acclaimed as an “inspirational” tutor.

Katharine's teaching method highlights not only creativity but also the therapeutic qualities of working with clay and she has hosted workshops in schools and care homes and community groups Her own work is regularly exhibited at her studio and in galleries in Norfolk and Suffolk.
