About the tutor - Hassina Khan

Hassina Khan makes work which interprets the colours and forms that surround us in nature and recreates them in glass.

Working with both a limited colour palette and similar forms her semi naturalistic styled works aim to invoke recognition and memories of images once seen.

The interplay between the glass, areas of absence, light and reflection suggest a sense of movement and energy that brings the works to life. Hassinas journey to stained glass was long and diverse, officially a professional stage manager and prop manager she toyed with many different media before discovering glass.

She is attached to its performative nature, the way it responds to light and changes as the viewer moves around it and its inherent beauty as a material.

She is currently studying for an MA in glass and ceremanic at the University of Sunderland / National Glass Centre and was recently awarded a Mike Davis Innovation Scholarship to develop a new body of work exploring identity.
